This seminar will explore different understandings of spiritual perception (SP), beginning with the accounts of SP found in scripture and the Christian tradition and moving into a more constructive discussion of SP in contemporary systematic theology, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of perception. We will examine the connection between SP and other aspects of the self, such as body, mind, will, affections, imagination, and so on. The seminar will also investigate the implications of SP or transformed/ trained perception for environmental studies, theological anthropology, theological aesthetics, and other related fields.
